Questions:

What is mast photography?
Aerial Mast Photography is a form of aerial photography, where instead of a picture being taken from a plane, helicopter, kite or remote control vehicle, photographs are taken from a remotely operated camera mounted on the top of a telescopic mast. Typically these masts are vehicle mounted and can extend to heights of around 26m (90ft or even 100ft). Smaller masts of around 15m are also used often without the need for a vehicle to support them.

Is a picture from a plane better?
The results from mast based aerial photography and plane based photography are very different. Plane based photography can record much larger areas of land in one picture and capture pictures looking straight downwards if required. Mast photography is significantly cheaper, and still allows fairly large areas of land to be photographed in detail. It also allows the shot to be composed better, and customers to view the shot from ground level before it is taken.

Is your aerial photography expensive?
Its actually very affordable, and much cheaper than using plane based photography. The best way to get a price is to call or email us and discuss your requirements and we will provide an exact quote quickly.

Is it safe?
When mast photography is carried out by professionals like the Aerial Viewpoint team it is both a very safe and quick method of carrying out aerial photography. In fact our aerial survey eliminates many of the health and safety issues associated with traditional survey methods. It can reduce or remove the need to access a roof or to use scaffolding, cherry pickers or ladders during a roof or building survey.

How do I choose an aerial photographer?
Look at their work and see if its of a standard you are happy with. Its not worth using a really cheap aerial photographer if the pictures are no good, especially if the pictures are to be used to sell a home or property or given as a gift. Check that the pictures seen on an aerial photographers website or in their marketing material were actually taken by them (they often aren't!!!).

What if I want the picture from my back garden?
If we cannot get access to the best location to take photographs from with our van, we have a smaller tripod mounted mast(15m height) which we can use. This still provides great photos and can even be used inside buildings if required.

How quickly can you do the job?
We have a very fast turnaround, most jobs can be carried out within a couple of weeks if not sooner (dependant on weather).

When will I get my pictures?
Pictures can be supplied immediately after the work is carried out if required. If any additional digital photoshop work is required the pictures can be posted or emailed to the customer within a few days.

How many pictures will I get?
We aim to provide you with the picture that you want and are really pleased with. Before carrying out the work we will discuss your exact requirements and the number of different views you want capturing. We generally will take (and give to the customer) views from several different mast heights.

How long does it take?
If conditions are good we can often get a job completed within an hour, although our aim is your satisfaction and we work hard to get the picture you want.

Does thermal survey have to be done at night?
Not always, often dull days or winter afternoons and evenings can be suitable.

Can I see the picture before its taken?
Pictures can be viewed from ground level via a laptop. This ensures we get the best composition possible and allows input from the customer.

Are the pictures good for websites?
Our pictures are often used on websites, and can really add impact to both online and offline marketing material. Pictures for websites can be supplied at 72ppi if requested.
